Although Snap Mail automatically handles the updating of the user list when computers are turned on and off, you may sometimes want to permanently delete a user name — for example, the name of a person who is no longer using Snap Mail.

Select “Users...” from the Snap menu in the menu bar to bring up the Users window.

Like the user list in the main window, a diamond indicates that a computer is off.  In addition to the diamonds, sometimes a filled-in square will appear next to a user's name.  This indicates that this user's computer is acting as a server.  If you see a square that is not filled in, this indicates that the user's computer was acting as a server but has shut down.

The following buttons are available in the Users window:

• Delete

To remove a user from the user list, select the name and click on the “Remove” button.

• Lookup

To check the network for any new users running Snap Mail who are not currently on the user list and to update the on/off status of the names that are on the list, click on the “Lookup” button.  If any new nodes are found, they will be added to the list.  This feature is rarely necessary because Snap Mail automatically updates the user list as needed.  Lookup is useful if your network has recently been disrupted for some reason and you would like to make sure that your current user list is accurate.  Performing a lookup does cause a considerable amount of network traffic and should be avoided in most cases.

• Cancel

 To cancel any changes you have made and return to the Snap Mail main window, click on the “Cancel” button.  All changes that you may have made while the Users window was open will be canceled.

• OK

 To save the changes you have made and return to the Snap Mail main window, click on the “OK” button.
